Here at Beams and Struts we spend a lot of time talking about evolution and developmental theory. Some times we discuss the philosophical underpinnings of those ideas. Other times we examine their impacts in politics or religion. But, in fact, one of the binding ties in our common project here is the collective belief that these processes play out in every facet of our lives.
Today, I thought I'd do a series of posts showing the evolutionary process playing out in music by way of a triptych of Saturday Jukebox posts. Below is one of the recent songs that has really grabbed my attention, Uprising by Muse. Uprising is such a big and triumphant song, it's hard not to pay attention. And in some ways, Muse is articulating the victory of a long lineage of music.
Stay tuned throughout the day for the two other posts in the triptych to see the evolutionary tapestry of musical influence unfold.
